Breaking the communication island after disaster: mooring UAV as 24-hour aerial base station
On July 29, as Typhoon "Zhu Jie Cao" approached Shanghai, multiple regions deployed drones for risk inspections. A staff member from Shanghai Jiading Power Supply Company operated a drone equipped with high-precision cameras and positioning systems to inspect surrounding power grids through remote control devices. On the same day, Jiangsu transportation authorities used drones to inspect construction sections of the G42 Expressway, while Zhoushan Maritime Bureau deployed 25 drones to monitor cross-sea bridges and waterways, ensuring safe passage for over 2,000 commercial vessels.
From pre-disaster hazard inspection to post-disaster structural assessment, UAV is deeply involved in the natural disaster prevention and control chain.
